Choosing the Right Bunk Bed Mattress
Comfort is the most important factor to consider in choosing the type of bed to use. Whether you use platform or bunk beds it is very important to choose the one that can give you total comfort. Most of the times the comfort of the bed depends on the type of mattresses used. The type of mattress is very important to consider in choosing beds especially when buying bunk beds. The mattresses in bunk beds do not only offer comfort but also provide safety especially that the bed is elevated and sleeping high up in the air is often risky.
The bunk beds are the favorite beds of the children. Most kids ask their parents to buy them a bunk bed. And since most of the users of the bunk beds are children, it is very important to ensure their comfort and safety. Uncomfortable beds will make you feel sleepless and might cause you back and neck problems. The children also feel the same so it is very important to keep them from such back problems at their early age. The comfort of using mattresses in the bunk beds depends on the quality of the mattress. Too hard mattresses might make you feel like using nothing at all while the too soft mattresses can make you feel like sinking on the bunk beds.
The thickness of the mattresses is also very important especially when the mattress will be used in the bunk beds. The measurement of the mattress must depend on the guardrails of the bunk bed. If you use mattresses with thickness that levels or is higher than the guardrails then the guardrails will be useless. The rail can't anymore do its purpose of keeping your child from rolling and falling out of the bed. If that's your case the rail will just only support the mattress and not the one who is using the bed. Using a very thin mattress also exposes the entire guardrails. Your child might slip on the thin mattress causing him or her to fall through the gaps of the rails.
The guardrails provide the safety of the users of the bunk beds, but the safety that the rails bring depends on the measurement or thickness of the mattresses. When choosing the right mattresses for use in the bunk beds you must measure first the height of the guardrails of the bed. To have the right thickness of your mattress you can subtract 4 or 5 inches from the height of the rails. Your mattress must keep your rail expose with at least 4 inches so that it can still support the users of the bunk beds. Aside from the thickness of the mattresses you must also use the right size of mattresses that will fit your bunk beds. For single-size beds you must only use single-size mattresses to avoid possible injuries or accidents.
When buying the mattresses to use for bunk beds you must choose only from the mattresses that can fit your beds. Get first the sizes and measurements of the beds and mattresses. If you know the size then you must now look for the mattresses that are comfortable enough for your children. You can let them try the mattresses to determine the most comfortable one.
